Dr Tin Htun Aung graduated with MBBS Degree from Institute of Medicine (1) Yangon in 1972. After the graduation, he served for 5 years in the Department of Health, Union of Myanmar. He also passed ECFMG (MD), Visa Qualifying Examination (VQE), Sonographic Principles and Instrumentation (ARDMS SPI), Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS in AB OB/GYN) and Registered Vascular Technologist (ARDMS) examinations.

Dr Tin Htun Aung spent 6 months in USA in 1994 as Neurosurgical Trainee and he had attended many seminars, conferences, congress overseas and presented neurosurgical papers at these meetings. He also published several papers in Hong Kong, Australia and served as Associate Professor to the Chinese University of Hong Kong for many years.
During 40 years as a Clinician and Surgeon, he spent 5 years in General Surgery, and 30 years in Neurosurgery in Hong Kong. He successfully operated about 2500 Neurosurgical Operations in Hong Kong including 300 cases of Vascular Neurosurgery: Cerebral Aneurysm, AVM, 90 cases of Endoscopic Surgery of Cerebral Ventricles, Pituitary region, 500 cases of Brain Tumor and Skull base surgery as well as 200 cases of Spine surgeries.
Founding Chairman and Council Member of Myanmar Doctors Society of Hong Kong in 1987 and remained as a member .
He was Chief of Service and Consultant Neurosurgeon at Princess Margaret Hospital from 1996 until 2008 and he retired from service. Then, Dr Tin Htun Aung worked as Consultant Neurosurgeon at PamelaYoude Nethersole Eastern Hospital.
